Model BDS-2040 Bulk Data
Streamer units are designed for bulk off-loading and temporary
storage of data for onward transmission to downstream processing
equipment. Applications typically include the capture of burst
data from a digital receiver or demodulator in remote monitoring
applications or the buffering of captured data prior to
transmission or retrieval via a slower cable or radio data link.
The
unit is based around a high power central processing unit which
controls the streaming of ASCII type data through a circular RAM
buffer of up to 16Mb capacity. Data is input through a standard
high speed ECP/EPP parallel port and dumped into the buffer. The
data is then read from the buffer via an RS232 serial port at
standard baud rates up to 115kbaud. Warning is given in
the case of buffer overrun should the rate of retrieval be
inadequate or fail altogether.
There
is also potential for the incorporation of a hard disk drive for
extended buffering, data backup, or long term storage
applications. Units are generally adapted to fit customers’
particular requirements.
Standard
format units consist of a 1U high 19” rack mount enclosure
with a single power switch on the front panel and all connectors
on the rear panel. Alternative compact units or modules can be
supplied for benchtop, system integration, mobile or remote
field applications. All units are powered from a universal
switch mode power supply for operation in any part of the world.
