General Description

Model CDU-2090 Cable Driver Unit is designed to provide receiver systems with the interfacing necessary to drive long coaxial cable runs. Applications might typically include the onward transmission of received signals to downstream processing equipment or a remote operator location.   The unit can be configured to provide the required amplification and equalisation to compensate for the loss and frequency dependent characteristics of the particular cable being utilised in fixed installations. Any band in the IF, RF or microwave ranges can be adapted for a specified gain and flat response.   The standard unit comprises a low profile 1U high 19” rack mount enclosure with a power switch on the front panel and all connections on the rear. Because each unit is adapted to fit the specific application, complexity can vary from the most basic single channel fixed gain amplifier with no frequency compensation, to a multi-channel system with gain and full band equalisation. Furthermore, each channel in a multi-channel unit can be individually tailored to a particular requirement. If required, variable gain can be provided with manual or remote control.   Any type of connector may be specified subject to available panel space, though 2U or higher formats may be supplied if necessary to accommodate requirements. Alternative compact units or modules can be supplied for benchtop, system integration, mobile or remote field applications.   All units are powered from a universal switch mode power supply for operation in any part of the world.   For further details on specification, special options and packaging, please see overleaf.
