CSS has developed many bespoke software applications for our customers in the fields of SIGINT, DF, system control and automated test. All our software is developed using National Instruments LabWindows™/CVI™ (C for Virtual Instruments) for Windows™ or Linux platforms. Every software package we create is unique and tailored to the specific customer's requirements, however here we present our primary suites, versions of which are used in many locations around the world.

MAGI

Satellite Tracking, Scheduling and Collection for FISINT/TELINT

MAGI(TM) is a satellite tracking, scheduling and collection suite which can be tasked with a 24 hour schedule of targets to track. The tasking programme is built using a comprehensive set of ephemeris tools with TLE data import, orbit plotting, visibility prediction. The software includes a bar-graph style scheduler with features to maximise operational collection time and easily view and resolve schedule clashes. An internal database of targets allows retention of TLE data (flagged if out of date), prioritisation of important targets and custom notes and annotations.

The software can provide full automated control of receiving system hardware including antenna positioner, radio front end, collection and hand-off receivers, signal and data recorders and back-end processing and can be adapted to a customers specific hardware requirements. Full system BITE and alerting can be incorporated for true remote or autonomous operation.

Horizons

Autonomous Spectrum Monitoring and Collection for FISINT/IMINT

HORIZONS(TM) is an autonomous spectrum monitoring and collection suite which can be tasked with a schedule of spatial sector scan and frequency scan operations. The application has been developed to take advantage of inversion ducting of millimetric signals but has been further developed to make it particularly suited to terrestrial and UAV collection.

 

The tasking programme is built using a comprehensive set of scheduling tools including target database and mapping functions. The software includes a bar-graph style planner with features to maximise operational monitoring time and easily view and resolve schedule clashes. An internal database of targets allows retention of data including emitter frequencies, modulation, operating sector, operating times, prioritisation of important targets and custom notes and annotations. A range of algorithms can be used to identify and qualify target emitters of interest and initiate signal collection, while circular buffering of spectrum data ensures vital pre-trigger data can be captured/replayed using the PIAS playback utility.

The software can provide full automated control of receiving system hardware including antenna positioner, radio front end, collection and hand-off receivers, signal and data recorders and back-end processing and can be customised to a customers specific hardware requirements. Full system BITE and alerting can be incorporated for true remote or autonomous operation.

RF-MON

Manual/Automated Spectrum Monitoring Application

RF-MON is a Radio Frequency Monitoring (RFM) application for use in fixed, mobile and portable applications.

The software monitors a specified frequency band in RF Sweep mode producing an RF spectrum display and automatically detects a new signal of interest (SOI) using a range of configurable signal detection methodologies, generating alerts via local alarm or TCP remote messaging interface.

The software can provide full automated control and monitoring of receiving system hardware including search and hand-off receivers, frequency extenders and antennas and can be adapted to a customer’s specific hardware requirements. The monitoring process can use an omni-directional antenna or perform automated sector-scan using an electronic pan/tilt positioner under software control.

DF-X

Manual/Automated DF Application

DF-X is a Manual/Automated Direction Finding (DF) suite using traditional steerable antenna techniques for fixed, mobile and portable applications.

The software monitors a specified frequency band in RF Sweep mode producing an RF spectrum display to locate a signal of interest (SOI). It then tunes to the SOI in CW RF Pan mode to facilitate determination of signal bearing. A full function map display indicates user location and antenna bearing for fixed DF, and successive readings can be stored for triangulation for mobile DF.

The software can provide control and monitoring of receiving system hardware including search and hand-off receivers, frequency extenders and antennas, GPS receiver, electronic tilt sensor for tripod levelling and  electronic compass for determining antenna/signal bearing, The DF process may be automated using an electronic pan/tilt positioner under software control.

PIAS

Spectrum Playback Application

PIAS (Play It Again, Sam!) is our standard utility for playback of captured spectrum data bundled with all of our signal collection suites or integrated into the main GUI.

PIAS allows the frame-by-frame playback, pause and capture of RF sweep or IF pan spectrum data, either continuous or manually stepped using button and slider controls. Standard marker functions may be applied to replayed or paused signals and Individual frames exported and annotated with EOI details.
